BOLTON RUFC finally won their relegation battle with an 18-5 home victory over Didsbury last night.
Bolton, who needed two points to be mathematically sure of staying up, took the early initiative when skipper Peter Jackson put wingman Peter Hackin in for the first score.
The five point lead looked shaky as the game opened up but Bolton shook off any anxiety when Mike Ince stretched the lead by outpacing the cover defence and scoring under the posts then converting before a penalty, kicked by Ince, gave Bolton a 15 point lead at half time and they never looked back.
Ince converted another penalty to complete Bolton's victory.
