CARL Snape is a true Bolton Wanderer.

The 16-year-old was distraught when he missed the matchday bus to the Reebok by 10 minutes.

So, he adopted the same fighting spirit Wanderers must use in the play-offs over the next week -- he jogged EIGHT miles to the ground in his polished shoes.

The season ticket holder arrived two-and-a-half hours later but only missed the first 10 minutes of Sunday's clash with Sheffield United.

Carl's amazing trek took him two miles up Newbrook Road, left onto the A6 Manchester Road for five miles, right onto De Havilland Way for half-a-mile before arriving at the Reebok in Mansell Way -- sweating and out of breath.

Carl, an A-level student at Winstanley College, Wigan, who admits to be only a part-time jogger, said: "I was supposed to get the bus with my mates but I missed it so I decided to jog the rest of the way.

"All my mates were laughing when I turned up at the Reebok. It was hot and sunny and I was quite tired but at least it was a good game."

Now Carl's proud father Keith reckons his son is one of the most loyal Wanderers fans in the area.

Keith, aged 44, of Chanters Avenue, Atherton, said: "He did the only thing a true White would do -- run.

"What makes it even more amazing is that he was wearing a pair of uncomfortable shoes and not trainers.

"He is a true and loyal supporter. Carl plays football for Tydlesley United but is only an occasional jogger, so this is a fantastic achievement."

A spokesman for Bolton Wanderers FC applauded Carl's efforts -- and offered him two tickets for next Thursday's crucial play-off clash with West Bromwich Albion at the Reebok.

The spokesman said: "We all think that Carl's dedication to the cause should be congratulated and he is a true Bolton Wanderer!

"We hope many more fans make such efforts and support our bid for the Premiership.

"Well done Carl."
