ARSONISTS are turning a section of grassland in Farnworth into a dangerous car graveyard.
Fire crews were called to open land behind Shillingford Road at 11pm last night after vandals set fire to a Vauxhall Astra.
Sub Officer Rob Gibson said the attack was the latest in a string of such incidents.
And he has called for access restrictions to be implemented. He said: "A lot of cars are being dumped there and something needs to be done to stop it from becoming a dumping ground for abandoned cars.
"It is very dangerous for the children because they go poking around in the car shells after they have been burnt."
Sub Officer Gibson said bollards or boulders could be placed there to stop the cars being driven in.
He added: "The residents are getting a bit upset about it and these sorts of restrictions have worked elsewhere in the past."
