ON April 27, I was lucky enough to be invited to a party given by Bolton Rotarian Club at Dunscar Conservative Club for the older residents of the area.
It was a wonderful evening of entertainment; we were given refreshments and entertained by a young lady whose name I didn't catch, and a hilarious comedian, Mr Tom Newton, who kept the tears rolling down our faces with mirth for at least two hours, and, more importantly, there was not a smutty joke told. Is the 'lavatory' humour we are usually offered really adult entertainment?
I understand that Mr Newton is shortly to receive an MBE for his services to charity, and it is well deserved.
I would also like to publicly thank the Rotary Club for one of the best evenings I have had for a long time, and I am sure that the rest of the audience who were there would wish to thank them too..
