DETECTIVES are investigating the death of a former Bolton accountant discovered in a bedroom at his home.

Recently divorced Frank Berry, aged 58, was found dead in bed at his flat in Milnrow Road, Rochdale, by a neighbour.

An inquest heard that Mr Berry smoked and drank heavily but did not take drugs. Toxicology tests are currently being carried out in Manchester to discover the cause of his death.

Rochdale District Coroner Barrie Williams was told that his next door neighbour, James Wilson, discovered Mr Berry lying face down on the bed.

Four days earlier, on April 24, he had passed on Mr Berry's Giro cheque and mail to him and noted how ill he looked. He told Mr Berry to see a doctor but he refused.

Coroner's officer Ian Addison said a police inquiry had found no suspicious circumstances and samples had been sent off for toxicological examination at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Inquiries are still continuing.

The coroner adjourned the inquest pending the outcome of the laboratory tests.
