LOCAL music teachers could be awarded for their talent if they win a Classic FM competition.
For the third consecutive year, the radio station is scouring rehearsal rooms in schools across the country to find the UK's Music Teacher of the Year 2001.
The scheme, which has won government backing, seeks to reward the work being undertaken in schools every day by classroom teachers who are keeping the tradition of music-making alive.
The two top music teachers, one from primary and one from a secondary school, each win a trip for two to the Verbier Music Festival in Switzerland. Their schools win £10,000 worth of Yamaha musical instruments, a computer and Sibelius software, which helps in the composition of music.
To enter, schools need to explain why their teacher deserves to be Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year. For details phone Charlotte Rosier on 020 7344 2742.
