THE Warburton's Bolton League will make another bid to get their cricket campaign started tomorrow.

After postponing the first set of fixtures a fortnight ago, only three games were able to start last week and of those, only Greenmount were able to complete an innings.

With the weather forecast predicting dry weather over the weekend there are hopes of a full programme.

Heaton will have their new pro Indian spinner Hirwani Narendra on view but several clubs look as if they will be looking around for deputies after the contracted players have been kept abroad because of playing commitments.

Egerton and Little Lever will still be without Neil McGarrell and Kashif Raza but there were hopes that Kearsley pro Fazal Akber would arrive in time for their match with Astley Bridge, who themselves have had pro problems after their original signing Aditya Manohar was refused a work permit. If things do not improve over the next week it could be that some of the clubs still waiting for their professionals, may look elsewhere and there are rumours that one club has already decided to do just that.

Of the professionals who are over here, Saeed Anwar showed he is in good form last week when he hit 69 in an aborted game with Farnworth.

In this week's double header Greenmount take on Horwich while on Sunday they are away to an Eagley side that had Heaton reeling at 33-7 last week, former Astley Bridge pro Shahid Mahboob responsible for the majority of wickets to fall.

Of the rest Lancashire second team captain Mike Watkinson should make his first appearance as Walkden's professional in their match against a Tonge side that includes their new signing Adil Nisar, while former Eagey pro, South African Brad White will have his first game for Westhoughton, who may also have a couple of new amateur players on show for the game against Farnworth.
