THE Derby Arms are the winners of the inaugural Citizen-sponsored Anniversary Pool Tournament.

They beat Hop Pocket 'A' in the two-leg final which ended on April 26 at the Derby Arms, Eaves Lane.

Derby Arms took a narrow 4-3 first leg lead into the second leg in which they stormed into a decisive 4-0 lead to win the tournament 8-3.

Organiser Ian McKechnie said: "The final went down very well and I think everybody is looking forward to the tournament carrying on with the support of The Citizen." He said nerves got to the Hop Pocket in the second leg, but added: "It was a good friendly atmosphere from both teams and was played in a very good spirit."

The engraved trophy will be handed to Derby Arms at a special presentation evening.
