A GROUP of fun loving mums have picked up the showbusiness "habit" from their talented children.

Thirteen mothers, whose youngsters are members of Bolton Saturday Club, have won their own place on the popular TV show, My Kind Of Music, with a performance inspired by the hit movie Sister Act.

Mrs Alison Power, aged 37, who co-runs the club, dressed up as Whoopi Goldberg, complete with face paint and a wig to perform "Follow Me" with 12 other singing nuns at the Manchester audition.

She said: "We travelled to the audition on a minibus. We were dressed up in our nun outfits and everyone was waving and pipping their horns. It was a lot of fun and after our performance we were told there and then that we had got on the show."

The game for a laugh women were given the good news just a day after celebrating their children's success in getting on the show. They are one of 600 acts picked from 2,000 and will be filmed over Easter.

Mrs Mandy Herron, aged 30, who runs the club with Alison, said: "We performed the song at a charity concert 18 months ago and thought it would be a good act for the show. We are all very excited and looking forward to performing on television."

Great-grandma Joan McMahon, aged 61, is among the 13 singing nuns and is proud that three of her eight grandchildren are members of the club, who often use their dancing and vocal skills to raise cash for good causes. The other mums are: Joanne Corsfield, aged 32, a doctor's receptionist; Tracey Higginson, aged 29, full time mother; Michelle Hughes, aged 30, a cleaner; Jane Sayers, aged 27, a housewife; Shirley Leader, aged 32, a cleaner; Kath Walker, aged 32, a full time mother; Sharon Leader, aged 30, a housewife; Julie Martin, aged 28, a Morrison's supermarket employee; Tracey Smethurst, aged 29, a Hanbury's supermarket employee and Tracey Ward, aged 32 who works in the Arts Department of Harper Green School. They will appear on screen during the autumn series.
