BOLTON Wanderers reserve keeper Matt Glennon has been banned from driving for two years and fined £500 after admitting being more than twice over the drink-drive limit.

Glennon, 22, who has impressed on loan at struggling Carlisle United, was stopped by Cumbria police at 3am last Saturday when his Ford Escort hit a kerb.

The incident came just hours after he had kept a clean sheet in Carlisle's vital Friday night win against relegation rivals Torquay and happened when the keeper decided to drive to his girlfriend's house after celebrating with friends.

Glennon told magistrates he knew he had done wrong and apologised. He said he earned £21,000 a week and took home £380 a week.
