LIMELIGHT sealed a place in the semi finals of the Carl Brown Memorial Trophy with a John Walters 65th minute goal earning a 1-0 last eight win over Union Arms.

In the Division One programme table-toppers Royal Oak marched on with a 7-0 away thumping of Leigh Sportsmen. The clash of the two teams breathing hard down the leaders' necks saw reigning champions Higher Fold boost their chances of retaining their title with a 2-0 away win at Three Crowns A. , goals coming from Steve Ashbrook and Mick Blakely. Steve Anderton bagged four to take his season tally to 21 in Moonraker's 6-1 away win at Courts A. A Mark Broli goal five minutes from time earned Britannia a point in a 1-1 draw at Leigh Avenue who had taken the lead on the hour mark through Dave Wilcox.

In Division Two Atherton C&N moved a massive eight points clear at the top with a 7-1 home win over Courts B, Jonathan Wood scoring for the visitors on 30 minutes but making amends with a goal in the correct net in the last minute of the first half. Goals from David Hogan, Aaron Walker and Paul Molyneux saw Howe Bridge Mills win 3-1 away to upset third placed Fir Tree Rangers hopes of getting in on the title challenge. Asda Golborne celebrated a second win of the season with a 3-1 home win over Three Crowns B courtesy of goals from Dave Wood, Darren Evans and Paul Catterall. Peter Weir got a last minute consolation for the visitors.

The big attraction next weekend is the Redwaters Coronation Cup Semi Final clash between current Division One leaders Royal Oak and defending league champions Higher Folds.
