THE semi finals of the Open Cup will see an even split between the top divisions with two Division One sides lining up with two from the Premier.

New Edition fully deserve their place in the last four after a stunning elimination of Premier boys Radcliffe Amateurs by a 4-0 scoreline in the Quarter Final. Alan Charnock (2), Steve Wolstenholme and Phil Mason led the giantkilling. Goals from Clint Ramsden, Darren Hampson and Colin Entwistle saw Bolton Castle beat Lodge Bank 3-1, Steve Settle their scorer.

A last gasp Rob Smith strike put Bowling Green by a 2-1 margin over Gibraltar Rock. Earlier goals had come from Billy Howcroft for the winners and Lee Jones for Rock. RS Walkden of Division One had won through to the last four the previous weekend.

In Premier Division fixtures unbeaten Anglers went top of the shop with goals from Des (2) and Barry Wilcox, Mark and Craig Hulme and Tony McAfee earning a 6-1 away win at Howcroft, whose scorer was Tony Urmston from the penalty spot. Glynn Jones and Mick O'Rourke goals gave Shakespeare a 2-1 win over Allboro, Mark Davies in reply.

Division One saw Alex Crossman continue his rich goalscoring vein with three for Farnworth Royales in a 6-0 home win over bottom club Bibbys. Wayne Jolley got two and Paul Fletcher one. A Chris Corr brace and a goal from Chris Hart saw Tone United beat Open Cup semi finalists RS Walkden 3-1, Warren Jones on the mark for the losers.

Nathan Peachey netted a hat-trick for Jolly Waggoner but still finished on the losing side as Jimmy Stewart, also with three, Rick Samuels and Alan Mitchell saw leaders Howcroft OB to a 5-3 away win.

Hare and Hound beat Gilnow Vets by the same scoreline, goals coming from Tommy Harrison, Gary Mitchell, Alex Wardle, Martin Siddall and Tony Wallbank with Gary Bateman, Paul Greenwood and Ian Marsh responding. Mick Jones had a great day with four to add to Mick Peak's one in Church Inn's 5-1 win over Victory, Gareth Jackson getting the consolation goal.

Windowplas march on in Division Two as Chris Burke (4), Andy Jackson (2), Neil Haydock and Paul Hacon gave the table leaders a 8-1 win at Wellington, Mick Surridge he losers' scorer.

Second placed Little Hulton CC won 3-1 at Red Lion, Paul Green, John Roberts and Andy Patchett scoring with Russell Rider replying. FC Baroc and Hare and Hounds drew 5-5, Danny Coyle (4) and Chumpa Amadi for the home side and James Jackson (2), Matt Maher (2) and Lee Howarth for the visitors.

Amazingly there was another 5-5 stalemate with Clifton Rangers and Greenfield having to settle for a point each. Andy Fairclough (2), Tony Cooper (2) and Gary French got Rangers' goals with Craig Yates (2), Phil Swift, Les Brown and Mark Adams on the mark for the visitors. Goals from Barry and David Caton gave Athletic Atherton a 2-0 home win over Farmers Arms, whilst Vertex (Vivian Croyton) and F&K Dynamoes (Ian Kelly) drew 1-1.
