Lions U9s 24
Orrell St James U9s 12
Orrell seemed determined to make a name for themselves by beating the Cup semi finalists. The scores were level at 12-12 at half time, thanks to two outstanding tries from Man of the Match, David Parkinson, which were converted by Sam Dale and Jayden Sandford. In the second half, the Lions scored three times without reply, courtesy of a third from David Parkinson and further tries from Top Tackler Andrew Newton and Most Improved Player Nathan Blair. Golden Moment was awarded to Luke Lister.
Orrell St James U8s 32
Lions U8s 44
If the Under 9s demonstrated how to win matches by defence, the Under 8s proved that it's possible to defend badly and still win.
They trailed 22-20 after having both flanks exposed and making only 16 tackles. Fortunately they managed to keep in touch thanks to block busting tries from Alex Davidson and Man of the Match Matthew Crow, two of which were converted by Alex Davidson and Most Improved Player Matthew Veal.
After half time words from their coach, Lions suddenly burst into life. Alex Davidson took his tally to four and Matthew Crow took his to three and were joined by Top Tackler Danny Parkinson and Chris Taylor on the list of try scorers. Goals were added by Peter Wright and Chris Taylor.
