THE idea of young people drinking to excess on our streets is a frightening spectre. But today, police are getting rid of a huge haul of alcohol seized from teenage drinkers in one area IN JUST TWO DAYS.

Children aged between 12 and 16 were discovered drinking a variety of booze, including vodka, whisky, fortified lager and dangerous home-made cocktails. Alcohol and young people form a toxic mixture on our streets, leading to noise and misbehaviour, and must be curbed.

Shop owners who sell to youngsters must be prosecuted to help deter the problem. The bottom line, however, is that parents must take more responsibility for their children.

They must know where they are, and what they are doing, and take positive steps to stop them drinking.
