I WASN'T aware that the old Prestatyn Holiday Camp was being pulled down until Mr N. Coleman, of Brigade Street, Heaton, wrote to me.

"When I was a child we used to go there every year; they were good times, full of happy memories," he writes. "I was saddened to hear that it is being demolished.

"The camp was gleaming white, and with people walking round with happy faces it reminded me very much of Port Merion, where the TV series The Prisoner was filmed.

"The main feature of the camp was, of course the tall white Hamlyn Tower, which was over 100 feet tall, and had graced the skyline since the camp was built in 1939. It was finally demolished on March 1."

I am sure that many readers have happy memories of visiting Prestatyn, and to remind you, I print this picture of a local group taken there in 1966, with the bottom of the tower in the background.
