A WESTHOUGHTON firm of insurance brokers and independent financial advisers is involved in a merger.
W. Cartwright Ltd of Market Street, which was founded by Managing Director Bill Cartwright in 1964, is to merge its general insurance business with Reich Insurance Brokers of Chapel Street, Manchester -- a firm established in 1943.
Mr Cartwright said the move would give the firm far more strength and muscle when negotiating premium rates. Clients have been told that staff will move to Manchester after April 2. But the life pensions and investments department is to remain independent and will continue to carry on business at the Market Street premises and will be run by Mr Cartwright's son Neil, a chartered insurer.
In a letter to clients Mr Cartwright says: "I will be retiring from the business, but would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support which you have given to me over the years."
