TO millions of TV viewers they are the cheeky chimps who like nothing better than a good cup of tea.

But for Bolton toddler Jack Monks the PG Tips stars are the stuff of nightmares.

One-year-old Jack is so scared of the loveable primates that he bursts into tears each time the advert comes on the box.

And on a recent trip to Chester Zoo he 'went ape' when his mum, Zoe, showed him the monkey enclosure.

But Zoe, aged 18, of Briarfield Road, Farnworth, says her little monkey is usually an animal lover who loves singing the Baha Men's chart hit: "Who Let The Dogs Out?"

She added: "He loves cats and dogs - but when he sees monkeys he gets very scared.

"When the PG Tips advert comes on the telly he looks frightened and by the end of it he has normally burst into tears."

Jack, who has been entered for the BEN's Child Of The Year 2001 competition, also enjoys singing and dancing, says his mum.

But the little tot's monkey mania may not last for long.

PG Tips asked the BEN to give him a cuddly toy chimp to help him overcome his phobia.

A spokesman added: "We are sorry to hear that Jack does not like our adverts.

"But I am sure when his taste buds mature he will love the taste of PG Tips."
