A THOUSAND home composters were snapped up within a new hours of a Bury Council "sale".
The event was held at Bury's Spring Street car park when water butts and other garden accessories were on sale at bargain prices.
Bury's environment chairman, Cllr Wayne Campbell, said: "We hoped that we would get a good response and we certainly did. The initiative was intended to encourage people to recycle waste from the garden and the kitchen."
Despite the bumper sales during the day a number of composters are still available to purchase. To find out more telephone 0161 253 6603.
