LEARNER drivers in the Bolton area will be able to gain an insight into the L test when the town's driving test centre opens its doors to the public on Thursday, March 15.

Visitors will be able to have a go on the new touch screen theory test, and Driving Standards Agency area manager Dave Jefferson will be on hand to answer questions about the driving test. Representatives from the Bolton branch of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and Bolton Road Safety Unit will also be displaying information at the event at the Weston Street centre.

Mr Jefferson said: "We hope that learner drivers and motorbike riders, along with their friends, family and driving instructors, will come along and chat with the driving examiners. They will attempt to dispel a few myths about the test and the examiners themselves. We hope this will make candidates feel more at ease when they eventually return for their practical test with us."

The event will run from 10am to 6pm. More information is available from the Driving Standards Agency on 0115 901 2852.
