CHILDREN brightened up their lives when they gave a facelift to their local park and playground.
The volunteers from the play scheme at the Deepdale Community Centre in Milnthorpe Road, Breightmet, painted the park's play equipment and planted £1,000 worth of bulbs.
They even designed artwork for the metal fence that will enclose the new play area.
The children's idea and designs will now be used to further improve the park ahead of the launch of a new look play area at Easter.
Cllr John Byrne, the council's executive member for culture, said: "Hopefully they will then carry on the good work into their adult life."
The clean-up during the half-term week was open to children aged five to 13, and even under-fives who were accompanied by parents.
The bulbs were donated by Andy Greaves, supervisor of Barton Grange Garden Centre.
