THE Bolton Employers' Forum held its first meeting at the Moat House Hotel in Higher Bridge Street, Bolton.

About 30 representatives of local firms attended to hear about the employment Service which covers the Bolton and Bury area.

District Manager Brenda Sweeney wrote in the invitation letter: "The Employment Service is eager to enhance the good working relationships we have with you and is always striving to provide the quality of service that you expect."

At the event she highlighted the role new technology was playing making it possible for vacancies to be advertised on the Internet.

Guest speaker Mr Alan Neil, a senior adviser with ACAS, spoke about personnel networks and employer-related issues.

Employers represented included Bolton Council, Marks & Spencer, Wm Morrisons Supermarkets, Leighs Paints, Yates Group, Bolton Hospital and Indespension. Topics raised in discussion included employment law.

Kathy Walker, Marketing Manager for the local Employment Service, said: "Most employers found the meeting of value."

Feedback suggested that there should be further meetings. The next one is in June. Pictured, from left: Brenda Sweeney, Alan Neil, John Kilburn, Leighs Paints, Lee Baymen and Marie Wheatley, Yates Group. Ref: J567/6a.
