I HONESTLY thought there was no way back into this one after the one-sided first half and, but for a couple of goal-line clearances, I don't think there would have been.

We came out in the second half and the first five minutes were much the same as the first half with the excellent Simon Charlton coming to Wanderers' rescue with his second goal-line clearance.

For the first time in the match the balance swung into Wanderers' favour when Holdsworth won a free kick about 30 yards out and Per Frandsen brilliantly converted to the keeper's bottom right hand post.

The goal certainly changed the pattern of the game and Holdsworth could certainly consider himself very unlucky to be denied what, in my view and probably the rest of the Wanderers fans', a perfectly justified penalty claim when he was dragged to the ground in the area.

Strangely enough Fulham only became the threat they had been in the first half after the sending off of Boa Morte but Bolton held firm to gain a very valuable away point.

As far as points go, one point may seem, to a lot of people, not enough to stave off the continuing threat of Blackburn and Birmingham. However, Sam Allardyce and the boys need to take a lot of heart and, indeed, confidence from this gutsy performance, particularly in the second half, and now put the recent disappointing run firmly behind them.

Man of the match - Simon Charlton.
