KILLER DJ Paul Sharpe may have brought his victim's little boy back to the murder scene where his mum lay dead upstairs, if forensic scientists' timings are correct.

Pathologists believe the 28-year-old mum was strangled mid afternoon on Friday, October 13, 2000.

But in interviews with detectives the killer claimed the murder came later that night, after Cody had been dropped off at a neighbour's house and Sarah had woken from a sleep.

Sarah may have been throttled by hand and also with the use of a ligature, with a pathologist refusing to rule out the possibility that Sarah was strangled twice.

On that day Sharpe had picked up Sarah's son Cody from school in the afternoon and brought him back to her home where he had collected together some clothes for the child.

The little boy asked to see his mum, but the calculating killer refused the request, telling the child his mother was unwell.

If the experts' timings are correct Sarah may well have already been lying dead in her bedroom.

Cody was then dropped off at a neighbour's house by Sharpe, who again explained that Sarah was unwell.

The youngster, who had never stayed at the neighbour's overnight, nipped home at 9pm again asking to see his mum. Once more Sharpe -- who was still in the house -- turned him away.

Earlier that day the killer had turned up unexpectedly outside Bolton College, where Sarah was chatting with a group of friends.

The student had driven off with the radio DJ. The pair were later spotted playing pool in The Feathers pub in Breightmet Fold Lane, Breightmet.

At about 1.50pm the pair left the pub and soon afterwards Sarah was next seen letting herself into her home.

It was to prove the last time that Sarah was seen alive.

Minutes later Sharpe arrived, pulling his car up outside the house, before he began knocking on windows and the front door and was eventually let into the house.

About 15 minutes later neighbours saw him leave the house, dressed in a different coloured top to that which he was wearing when he had arrived.

After dropping Cody off at a neighbours Sharpe eventually returned to the house.

Affairs

During the day the killer spent time sorting out his affairs, phoning his employers Chester FM to explain that he would not be able to host the forthcoming Sunday breakfast show.

Sometime later that night Sharpe fled the scene. It is thought he spent time in the Shropshire area, driving round and parking up at night as a police manhunt began.

Just two days after Sarah's body was discovered detectives took the unusual step of issuing Sharpe's details.

He was the man they wanted to talk to about Sarah's murder -- the man who had fled the scene after committing such an horrific crime.

Four days after the murder that manhunt came to an end.

Just after 2pm on October 18, Paul Sharpe walked alone into Bury police station to face the penalties for his actions. Killer Paul Sharpe
