LITTLE Adam Wilson turned hero when his baby sister began to EAT ball bearings.

The six-year-old child leapt into action and saved 21-month-old Molly's life by throwing her to the floor, grabbing her throat and forcing her mouth open.

The quick-thinking youngster, a pupil of Mytham Road Primary School, Little Lever, kept his head and forced Molly to spit out the iron balls, scooping the bearings from her throat and mouth.

Horrified mum, Zoe Wilson, of Lincoln Avenue, Little Lever, heard Adam's screams.

She said: "Adam was screaming Molly! Molly! I don't want you to die. He had her by the throat on the floor.

"At first glance, I thought Adam was throttling Molly and rushed over shouting at him to let her go. But then I realised he was trying to save her life."

Molly started eating the bearings "like raisins", as she played with a toy as her mum made her tea in the kitchen.

Zoe said: "She thought they were raisins. She must have popped twenty or more in her mouth and swallowed. Adam saw her and remembered our warnings about putting things in your mouth."

The cheeky youngster, described as a real character by her family, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Bolton Hospital for an x-ray and check up.

But she returned home with a clean bill of health and no worse for wear by her adventure.

Zoe said: "They are really very close. Adam loves her to pieces. But he's getting a bit fed up now, because Molly has been following him everywhere and giving him hugs."
