OVER the last 20 years I have through your letters page highlighted the sheer waste of the nation's human resources with each rise in the unemployment figures.
The scourge of unemployment has a devastating effect not only on the individual but their families and communities, and must never again be forced onto many of our people. Thus, it seems only fair that I should acknowledge the recent drop in the unemployment figures to the lowest in over 25 years.
I leave it for others to make any political points; I simply acknowledge the dignity and self-respect returned by being in employment.
