LOCAL boxer Amir Khan continued his bid for national schoolboy glory with another impressive win this time over the Midland Champion.
Fighting in the 48kg weight category the Heaton teenager, who has already retained the Greater Manchester and North West titles, outboxed his opponent in the first round and forced the referee to give his opponent a standing count. The second round was to be the last as Amir once again showed his expertise and flair and the fight was stopped - the fifth successive time his fights have ended that way.
The Bury Boxing Club boxer is now looking forward to the semi final at Barnsley Metrodome against the Northeast Counties champion on Saturday.
