A ROW over love bites boiled over into violence.
James Taylor was struck by his estranged girlfriend and retaliated by kicking out at her car, Bury magistrates were told.
Mark Humphries, prosecuting, said the couple split early in the New Year after a five-year relationship.
Violence erupted after the 27-year-old was asked to meet up with his former partner, Joanne Stainthorpe.
The court was told Miss Stainthorpe took her seven-year-old son for what was supposed to be an amicable meeting.
But the discussion deteriorated and it was claimed that Taylor, of Eton Hill Road, Radcliffe, kicked the car.
Taylor pleaded guilty to causing damage but claimed Miss Stainthorpe had spotted love bites on his neck and begun arguing with him. He lost his temper when she hit him.
Taylor was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £400 compensation.
