I RUN and play for a team in the Bolton Sunday League and as all games are now postponed until the New Year, if we are lucky, I have a couple of suggestions.

Play straight through until the season is complete as a one-off emergency season to prevent end of season congestion as most teams can't field a full team on a Sunday never mind two or three times in one week.

Cancel this season's results so far and start again just playing each other once with the toss of a coin deciding home advantage. This way we would all have 11 or 12 games to complete plus a few cup games if we are lucky. The season would then end on time and the council would get an opportunity to make the necessary pitch repairs for a cancellation-free season next year.

Let's face it, this season is a joke. Next season let's start in August and get a couple of midweek games in and then by Christmas we should all have played 10 or 11 games and congestion would be a lot less of a problem.
