A TERRIFIED computer shop customer was shot at by a masked gunman during a bungled raid last night.

Two men struck at Alpha Computers on Chorley Old Road, Bolton, just before 6pm yesterday, armed with a gun and a machete.

They demanded a back door to be opened to allow hi-tech equipment to be loaded into a getaway car but were foiled by the fact there was no rear access.

One of them levelled what is thought to have been a 9mm handgun at a 40-year-old man and fired.

The store owner, aged 37, an electrician and two people on computer programme training turned on the raiders.

The pair escaped after a customer armed himself with a piece of wood and another picked up a fire extinguisher.

The pair fled in a red Rover 420 car, registration L728 LAU, which had been stolen from Bury and has not been recovered.

Both are described as 5ft 10ins, and wearing black balaclavas and dark clothing. A third man acted as a getaway driver.
