Blackburn Rovers 3 Wanderers 0 IT was night of high drama at Ewood Park as young Wanderers crashed out of the FA Youth Cup.

The two sides fought out a typically physical local derby with the card-happy referee brandishing six yellows and one red, sending off Bolton's Cleveland Taylor for two bookable offences within the first 15 minutes.

There was no way back for 10-man Bolton as Rovers cruised to a 3-0 win thanks to two goals from Neil Danns and one from Jonathan Walters.

Within five minutes Rovers defender Danny Stone had the ball in the back of the net but the effort was ruled out for a push on Bolton keeper Chris Williams.

Minutes later, Rovers took the lead through a penalty awarded after Taylor, who would later see red, brought down Alan Morgan and Danns slotted home from the spot.

Taylor, clearly disappointed at giving the penalty away, was booked seconds after the restart for dissent, and just a minute later was heading for an early bath after a high tackle on Jerome Watt.

On 20 minutes, Rovers were two-up. Danns delivered a perfectly-weighted ball over the top of Bolton's defence for Jonathan Walters. Keeper Williams came out of his area but was beaten to the ball by the Rovers forward, who made no mistake in front of an open goal.

More bookings

Bolton's Nicky Hunt was lucky to stay on the pitch late in the second half after he appeared to throw a punch at Walters as the two tussled for a ball at the byline, but the referee only booked both players for the incident.

Rovers players Morgan and Robert Woodhead and Bolton's Williams and Michael Bird also went in the book during the game.

Despite the one-man deficit, Bolton tried to push forward but were limited to long-range efforts.

In the dying seconds Rovers completed the rout through Danns who finished off a good run from Walters to put the ball past Williams at the second attempt.
