NOT wishing to detract from the horrendous difficulties that humans are facing in the wake of the Indian earthquake, I am sure some people will find it in their hearts (and pockets) to help the animals too.

There are numerous organisations, businesses and charities setting up funds in order to try and meet the needs of the victims and it is our duty as one of the largest animal welfare groups in the world to try to do the same for the animals.

Many of these people are desperate to help their own livestock and pets, but are relying on outside assistance to do so.

Already £5,000 has been sent from our Headquarters' Overseas Fund and more will be sent on request, but the Overseas Fund is reliant upon donations from members of the public to top up this fund so that they are always in a position to give immediate help and not to have to wait for response to a specific appeal.

We would be grateful to receive donations, marked inside the envelope "Indian Earthquake Disaster", at RSPCA Advice Centre, 205 St George's Rd, Bolton, BL1 2PG, which will be passed on to RSPCA Headquarters to distribute as required. Please send an s.a.e. if a receipt is required.
