THE top of the table clash in Bolton Combination Division Two saw leaders Brindle Heath extend their lead to six points with a 4-1 away win at second placed Mitchell Shackleton.

Robert Marriet set the ball rolling with the opener on 20 minutes with hotshot Lee Watson scoring either side of the interval for a three goal cushion.

Scott Ramsey got a goal back for Mitchells on 75 minutes but any hope of a late shock were nullified when man of the match midfielder Joe Thornton got Brindle,s fourth on 79 minutes.

Walkden Res are seven points adrift with two games in hand following a 3-1 home win over Walkers Reserves. All three goals for the Harriet Street outfit came in the quarter hour before the break with John Morrison, Darren Shacklady and Tony Sheppard the scorers.

Dave Clayton, who had a terrific game for Walkers got a goal back on the hour mark, but Walkden,s victory owed much to keeper Lee Wilkinson, who among a string of fine saves also stopped a penalty.

Two goals from Leon Carter, a Mike Pollard converted penalty and individual strikes from Tony Knight, man of the match Mike Renshaw and Brian Adams earned Diamond a 6-0 home win over Fearnleys.

A hat-trick from star performer Michele Girgenti which included two penalties, the second proving to be a 77th minute winner, and a goal from Michael Cooney saw AS Weaste to a 4-3 win over Light Oak Rangers. Peter Worsley (2) and Mike Littler scored for Rangers.
