LEIGH RMI's hopes of reaching the last four of the Lancashire Marsden Trophy tonight rest on the state of the Hilton Park pitch.

Badly affected by Leigh Centurions' Challenge Cup win over Salford on Sunday after two days of heavy rain, the playing surface may not have recovered in time to stage RMI's quarter-final replay with Lancaster City. An inspection was planned this afternoon.

If the game does get the go-ahead, it will be the second of a run of four games in eight days and will stretch manager Steve Waywell's playing resources.

RMI were at Boston in the Conference on Saturday, are due to meet Lancaster today followed by a trip to Morecambe in the Nationwide Variety Trophy on Thursday. They get Saturday off before meeting Hereford in their FA Umbro Trophy replay at Hilton Park on Monday night.
