BRIAN Hall from Bolton United Harriers finished second for England in the Under 20's Men's High Jump competition at the Home Countries Under 20 and Senior Indoor International at Cardiff.
Brian jumped two metres and is now looking for victories during the outdoor season which starts in April.
Despite not having jumped at all for five months, instead preferring to concentrate on his strength and winter training regime under the watchful eye of his Coach, Shaun O'Donnell, he finished second in a countback situation to the Welsh athlete.
Brian jumped a height of 2.00 metres (well below his personal best of 2.10m) but was as happy with the result as could be expected, especially without the much needed jumping practice.
He had planned not to do any indoor competitions this year and hopes to be fresh for the start of the outdoor season in April, but when the International call up came he literally jumped at the chance to compete.
He is no stranger to International Competition as he represented England in the Millennium Commonwealth Youth games in Edinburgh last August and the year prior to that he had his first Great Britain call up for the European Youth Olympic games held in Denmark. He hopes to achieve the qualifying target of 2.14m to get selected for the Great Britain team to attend the European Junior Championships to be held in Italy in July.
