Leigh 6 pts, Northwich 8
LEIGH'S dismal league season continued against Northwich when they lost 8-6.
True to form they conceded an early penalty to trail. Good forward play set up several chances but all went begging in their failure to finish.
Parker was an early substitute for Wright but Leigh were unlucky when a speculative kick ahead by the opposing stand-off was awarded a touch down when even the most ardent of visiting supporters were questioning the decision.
Further Leigh pressure was rewarded with a penalty by Billinge to reduce the defecit to 3-8 but several more penalty chances were missed, leaving Leigh's promising forward play unrewarded at half-time.
Bullough substituted for Haste and Leigh continued to dominate the forward exchanges. Higson converted a penalty to narrow the margin to 6-8 but several other opportunities to clinch the game were missed leaving the Leigh pack wondering how they could totally dominate their opposition and still finish on the losing side.
