Little Lever crushed Harlequins 7-1 in a contest that promised to be the pick of the day's matches in the BSF Ladies Hockey League, but in reality turned out a great disappointment.

Little Lever produced all the best moments with their forwards passing the ball well and in the main their finishing was of a high standard. By comparison Harlequins looked out of sorts and rarely provided any danger to their opponents goal. At half time Little Lever led 3-0. Goal scorers were Julie Bluer 2 and April Hampton.

The second half continued in the same vein with Little Lever increasing their lead by two further goals from Julie Bluer with April Hampton and Sarah Gradwell chipping in one apiece. Harlequins' best chances came from Louise Heaney when, on two occasions, she took the ball to the goal line before passing back.

The first attempt was fluffed by the forwards, but the next left Sarah Grange with the easiest of tap-ins to score a consolation goal. This was a game that Harlequins will want to forget in a hurry. They will have a chance to make amends when they meet the same opponents again on Saturday. P.O.M. Sarah Gradwell (Little Lever) and Wendy Morgan (Harlequins).

Eagley FS played Darcy Lever in a match that was likely to throw some light on the season's relegation situation as both teams languished at the bottom of the section.

Eagley pressed from the start and were particularly dangerous down the right side with Helen McGahan putting in some good runs. Eagley came close to scoring, hitting the goal posts occasions, but it was Darcy Lever who scored from a penalty corner, when Emma Holt's shot from the edge of the circle was deflected into the goal by a defender.

This goal was against the run of play as the Eagley goalkeeper was only troubled twice in the first half Eagley should have been three up by half time, but were left trailing.

The second half did not rise to the heights of the first half most of the play taking place in the middle of the pitch. Both teams lacked a forceful goal scoring forward. Final score Darcy Lever 1 Eagley FS 0. P.O.M. Vicky Hill (Eagley FS) Emma Holt (Darcy Lever).

Hayvern St James and Elton 2nd had an evenly balanced match with the teams scoring alternative goals, until with only six minutes to go, Elton scored the goal that was to clinch the match and kept them in the Section B promotion race. Goal scorers were for Elton: Hannah Pilling 2, Mollie Boys 1. Hayvern: Terri Mayoh and Nola O'Conner. P.O.M. Katie Clough (Elton) and Melanie Russell (Hayvern)
