HAS your pet got star potential?

If so why not enter them for a WAG award, the pet Oscars of the animal kingdom.

The Willing and Giving (WAG) awards recognise the companionship and bravery of animals across the UK, who improve people's lives through their friendship and loyalty.

Previous winners have included a mountain rescue dog who, in blizzard conditions, saved the lives of three missing people, a boxer who helped a bride-to-be regain the will to live after her fiance was killed and a dog who is a little boy's best friend because there are no children in his village to play with.

Nomination categories this year include, Brave Pet of the Year, Companion Pet of the Year, Vet of the Year and My Special Friend, a category in which children under the age of 14 can explain why their pet is so precious to them.

Celebrity judges will include Gaby Roslin and TV vet Mark Evans.

The winners will be announced at a glittering award ceremony on April 26, 2001 in York. For more information ring 01638 751000 or collect a nomination form from veterinary surgeries across Britain.
