BOLTON Metro Swim Squad held their Christmas Meet at Horwich Pool attracting teams from as far away as Birmingham and Carlisle.
The gala has now become an annual event and this year had the highest entry to date with 25 teams.
Although these were mostly local, teams from the University of Birmingham, City of Carlisle and FAST of Somerset considered the event worth travelling to.
There were 36 events throughout the day in which 1,038 individual swims took place. The events were heat declared winners (no finals) and covered ages from 10 years to 16 years and over.
BMSS had a magnificent day, with 49 swimmers winning various age group events and numerous competitors achieving personal bests.
All competitors in the individual events were awarded points for their club, relatated to the position they finish.
Horwich gained the most points to finish top club, followed by Somerset club FAST with Bolton finishing in third position.
In the evening session, club teams battled it out for honours in both freestyle and medley disciplines.
Of the 16 events, Bolton just edged it with six wins, while Horwich and Swinton won four events each.The other two events were won by the team from the University of Birmingham.
