Chorley FC 3, North Ferriby United 2

A MATCH with a real twist in the tail as two late goals gave Chorley an unlikely three points.

North Ferriby must have returned to Humberside wondering how on earth they were empty-handed after dominating much of the game.

The visitors were quick out of the blocks and took an eighth minute lead.

The Magpies only half-cleared a left-wing corner and Phillips hammered an unstoppable 25-yarder past the helpless Marsh.

Chorley though were soon back on terms, Mills controlling Evans' cross before drilling the ball in to the corner of Sharp's net.

Mills though squandered an easier opportunity, shooting wastefully wide with only Sharp to beat.

Swailes also over-elaborated another half-chance and the interval arrived with the two teams deadlocked.

The second half saw North Ferriby gain the territorial advantage and went back in front when Hook's trip enabled France to smash the penalty past Marsh.

At this stage the visitors looked likely victors but the introduction of Eatock did perk Chorley up. With time running out Lady Luck smiled on the Magpies when Eatock's presence caused confusion between Sharp and Farley as they attempted to deal with Mitchell's cross, the ball bouncing in off Farley's head for a comical own goal.

A point would have been almost a bonus but in injury time Eatock escaped near the corner flag and his cross was met by a bullet header from Fleming for a totally unexpected, and very spectacular, winner.

This Saturday Chorley are at home again when they entertain Matlock Town.
