IT took Eagley just eight minutes to open the score in their match against Nomads, Helen Roocroft benefiting from a bad defensive blunder which left her clear with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Nomads conceded a further goal when a shot from the edge of the circle was deflected by a defender past the goalkeeper. Nomads tried hard to mount attacks of their own, but being under pressure all the time resulted in hurried passes, with many going astray.

Alison Saunders scored the third goal following an excellent individual run through the defence by Helen Roocroft leaving her with an easy tap in. Alison Hallworth scored the final goal a few minutes from time. The score line would have been greater had Fiona Hall not been in top form in the Nomads' goal. P.O.M. Fiona Hall (Nomads), Helen Roocroft (Eagley).

Hindley slipped to third position in Section B when they only managed a 1-1 draw against Hayvern St James, who played with only 10 players. To be fair to Hindley, they were handicapped just before half time when Alison Muddiman hurt her back and left the field, she returned for the second half wearing the goalkeeper's pads.

The game was evenly balanced though Hindley had the best of the scoring chances, the most memorable being when they were through with the goalkeeper beaten when Kelly Todd somehow managed to get back and hook the ball clear just as it was about to cross the line. Joanne Carter scored for Hindley after 15 minutes but Hayvern cancelled out that advantage within a minute. In the main the Hayvern forwards were fairly kind to the injured Alison Muddiman in goal, but she was glad to hear the final whistle. Hayley Dunn was the pick of the Hayvern players and Janet Ashton played her usual steady game for Hindley.

Normally the match between Harlequins and Hanson is a close run event, but this time Harlequins were at their best. Sharon Mitchell opened the scoring for Harlequins and also set up the second for Sam Aston. Sarah Grange completed the scoring for the first half Joanne May in the Hanson goal played brilliantly to save shots from Jackie Wright and Sam Aston. In the second half Hanson battled hard but were unable to stop Harlequins adding a further two goals. Goal scorers were Sharon Mitchell and Sarah Grange two apiece with Sam Aston adding one.
