Wet weather continues to cause havoc with racing's fixture list.

Hereford's card today and Bangor tomorrow were both called off on Monday.

And prospects for racing taking place at Towcester on Thursday have been described as "gloomy".

Paul Robinson, assistant clerk of the course, said: "We are still heavy, waterlogged in the back straight.

"We had 7mm of rain over the weekend and in the last 15 minutes it has just started raining heavily once again.

"It is not at all clever and prospects are gloomy."

There will be an inspection at Towcester at 12.00 noon on Wednesday.

Exeter's meeting on Thursday is also in doubt and the stewards will inspect the track tomorrow.

Clerk of the course Nick Ansell said: "We remain waterlogged in places and we couldn't race today.

"In light of the forecast we are going to inspect the course at 11.30am tomorrow to make a realistic assessment of prospects for racing on Thursday.

"It is a quick-drying course but it has been very wet."

However, there are no reported problems at Catterick, where racing is due to take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Adrian Swingler, the head groundsman, said: "We are looking good at the moment. It's dry and the sun is shining.

"The forecast for tomorrow is wind and rain.

"The going is good to soft, soft in places."
