All-rounder Danny Law has joined Durham on a two-year contract from Essex.
After four years with Essex, the 25-year-old former Sussex medium-pacer and hard-hitting batsman rejected a new one-year deal at Chelmsford and was released by mutual consent.
Law has often performed well against Durham, taking a hat-trick in recording his best Essex figures of five for 46 at Chester-le-Street in 1998 and winning a National League game at the Riverside last season when he hit Neil Killeen for successive sixes in the final over.
Durham's director of cricket Geoff Cook said: "Signing an all-rounder of Danny's age and experience gives our squad a better balance than it has had in the past."
