A steady performance by John Howarth, Brian Heyes and Mick Kitchen was more than enough to secure them a quarter final tie with stablemates Doe Hey.

The Juniors' B team were already through to the quarter final, and had a much easier time in their tie with Carlton A.

Despite the 120-point handicap, the Juniors were always in control of the match and, though Gurmit Singh managed to steal a game for the visitors, for the most part the Juniors kept the game scores to single figures, and came away with a very comfortable victory.

In the other quarter final newcomers St Andrews B travelled over to Prestwich to meet Carlton Club B, but taking with them the benefit of a 180-point handicap over the 20 games.

The Saints B team certainly got off to a good start, with Jim Wardley taking 25 points off Neil Winstanley and 31 points off Craig Rushton to keep them bang on target after four sets.

However, it wasn't to last as the Carlton team settled down and began to stretch out a lead. Even so, with only the doubles to play the match was far from sewn-up. As it was, the Carlton pairing secured the doubles set and with it a victory, but with only 25 points to spare.

There was only one First Division result this week, and it was yet another win for leaders St Andrews A, this time over Doe Hey A.
