TAKE lots of fancy dress costumes, a sprinkle of stardust, a capful of happiness, a jar full of laughter -- with a wheelie bin full of kindness.

Throw in a colourful rainbow and a foam-throwing cannon and, along with some fairy lights, hey presto, its an instant recipe to make school more fun!

The ingenious way to make the classroom more pleasant came from eight-year-old Michael Durbar from Claypool Primary School who was one of hundreds of avid Harry Potter fans who entered The Market Place Centre's recent Halloween competition when children were set the task of inventing a Make School More Fun potion to help out the hero of J K Rowling's books.

Michael came out the worthy winner after judges Andrew McManus from Waterstones, Angelina Lombardo, Special Projects Editor at the Bolton Evening News and Fiona Walker the Markets Place's Promotions Assistant, voted it the best.

Not only did Michael win a boxed set of every Harry Potter book, he also won a class trip to Bolton Town Centre Company's icerink and £100 worth of book tokens for his school library, donated by Waterstone's.

Although Michael's potion may be fun, there are "side effects" - teachers may turn blue, classrooms will have a constant supply of icecream, the atmosphere will be full of fun and laughter and everyone will be friends and kind and as night falls the school will be lit by fairy lights and sparkle in the dark!
