ACCORDING to a Bolton Council highways spokesman, a single yellow line alongside the kerb means the same thing as a broken one. Not according to my copy of the Highway Code, in which a single line means no waiting "for at least eight hours between 7am and 7pm on four or more days of the week", and a broken one "during any other periods".
