BURY boss Andy Preece today reflected on what could have been after his side stumbled to a disappointing draw against non-league Northwich Vics.

A mistake from keeper Paddy Kenny gifted the part-timers a draw but Northwich fully deserved a replay.

And now the non-leaguers are making confident noises about turning the Shakers over at the Drill Field a week on Tuesday.

"That's okay because it will wind our players up if they are saying things like that," said Preece.

"I'll give them credit for the way they played but we didn't hurt them enough and I'm very confident about the replay. We've got more quality in our squad than they have in their's and if we play well I can only see one team winning it."

Preece was disappointed not to go through at the first time of asking, especially as the second round draw was so favourable.

If they win at Northwich the Shakers will play Leyton Orient at home, which represents a great chance of getting through to the third round and potentially playing a Premiership side.

"It's a really great draw for us and it makes it even more important that we do get through, " agreed the manager. "This club needs money and so a cup run is vital."

On the plus side there were no injuries during the cup tie, though squad members Lee Connell and Lee Buggie picked up ankle injuries in training on Monday.

One man who could play in the replay is Darren Bullock. Since the key midfielder suffered a thigh injury at the start of October the Shakers haven't won in eight matches.

Bullock is playing in a reserve match at Doncaster today and if he comes through it unscathed will probably start against Brentford in Saturday's league game at Gigg Lane.
