RADCLIFFE Boro earned a home FA Umbro Trophy meeting with Unibond Premier Division Accrington Stanley last night with a 2-1 extra time First Round win over Leek Town.

The Boro players showed quite amazing powers of recovery to bounce back from Sunday's FA Cup 4-1 defeat by York to produce on of their best and most exciting performances of the season.

As with the York game Boro were slow out of the blocks and went behind to a James Morrow goal on 20 minutes.

Gradually Radcliffe began to dominate the game with Scott Wilson and man of the match Mark Dempsey pulling all the strings in midfield.

A slick passing move opened up the visitors' defence on 80 minutes for Dave Collins to slot in a well deserved equaliser and take the game to extra time.

The same player got the final touch for the decisive goal which earns the big home clash with Accrington on December 2. Stainton Park press secretary Ian Hannay was full of praise for his team.

He said: "How our players could play 120 minutes of such top quality football just forty eight hours after running themselves into the ground at Gigg Lane in the York game is beyond belief. It was an absolutely tremendous game." Colts suffer
