WITH regard to your article about the car park at Tonge Moor Labour Club on Ainsworth Lane, Bolton.

It amazes me that the club should expect funds allocated for old people using Thicketford House and the sick using Tonge Moor Health Centre, should be allocated to provide satisfactory parking. There was a perfectly good car park prior to the re-development of the club. Only the club wanted to demolish and re-build, everyone else was perfectly happy with the previous arrangement.

To re-develop without adequate fall-back funds is angering . Frank White, as a local councillor and governor of Tonge Moor Primary School, should have been fully aware of the major problems with building in the area (everyone else is) and a thorough land survey should have been carried out before building commenced and the development fully costed.

The site is now a very dangerous semi-cleared demolition zone which is environmentally totally unacceptable. Part of the agreement in building the new club on the old car park was that a new car park would be made available.

It is now time Frank White, as a local councillor and representative of the people, ensures the club fulfils its contract and the Labour council enforce an improvement order if it is not done, in order to ensure that the now missing community car park is replaced and the site is brought up to a safe and environmentally satisfactory standard.
