ON Friday evening, November 10, The Wood Street Socialist Club will hold a celebration of the Russian Revolution that gave birth to the world's first socialist state. The achievements of the Soviet Union have been largely hidden by the ownership of the world's media by its enemies.

It was the first of the major European countries to pull out of the useless mass murder of the 1914-18 war; thus the lives of millions of its citizens were saved. It took away ownership of its vast natural resources and vital industries, from the smug privileged few. Since only the wealthy could get the education needed to become highly skilled engineers, scientists, professionals etc, the Soviet Union was stripped of these talents of these gents and ladies who, in search for more easier pickings, deserted their country; nevertheless, the Soviets built, in 15 years, what it took the leading industrial nations a century to build.

When the Great Depression brought unemployment and poverty elsewhere, the Soviet Union had no unemployment, soup kitchens, hunger marches, bread lines etc like Cuba today. They had free medical education, plus homes (including heating and utilities) rented for only 5pc of wages -- called the social wage! When the main European nations fell apart in front of the 'invincible' Nazi war machine, contrary to the world's leading experts, the Red Army "tore the guts out of the Nazi monster", thus saving us from a bloodbath.

We invite all who appreciated this fact to be our guest and show our gratitude for saving us oceans of tears. Remember, millions of us returned in 1945 to happy homes because millions of Red Army soldiers did not. For those who think otherwise, keep your distance.
