SATURDAY Sept 30

Wanderers concede a goal after just 12 seconds and eventually run out second best, beaten 2-0 at home by runaway leaders, Fulham. It's their first defeat of the season.

MONDAY Oct 2

MARK Fish says he is not yet ready to sign the new contract he has been offered ... Sam Allardyce is resigned to being without Fish and Jussi Jaaskelainen for the Gillingham game because of international calls. Jaaskelainen has his sights on Finland's World Cup duel with England.

TUESDAY Oct 3

JUST over seven months after sustaining a career-threatening knee injury, Ricardo Gardner is sensationally given the all-clear to return to competitive action. Along with fit-again Robbie Elliott, he is pencilled in for an outing in the reserves.

WEDNESDAY Oct 4

GARDNER and Elliott confirm their fitness with 90 minutes apiece as they are welcomed back at the Reebok. Paul Wheatcroft puts Wanderers in front but they eventually lose 2-1 to Tranmere. Allardyce runs the rule over AZ Alkmaar midfielder Elbekay Bouchiba.

THURSDAY Oct 5

ELLIOTT declares himself fit, raring to go and hoping for a place in the squad at Gillingham.

FRIDAY Oct 6

BO Hansen and John O'Kane are on target - the full back with a sensational piece of skill - as Wanderers breeze into a 2-0 lead at Gillingham, where they look on course for their fifth away win. But Gillingham score twice in the last 15 minutes - the second deep into overtime - and they have to settle for just a point.

SATURDAY Oct 7

ALLARDYCE says the Football Leaague should change the rules regarding postponements caused by international calls. He argues that clubs should have the power to postpone games if they have any players called up by their countries rather than the current minimum of three. Meanwhile, Jaaskelainen has to settle for a place in the bench as Finland go down 1-0 in Greece in their World Cup qualifier; Fish fares better as he helps South Africa hold World Champions, France, in a scoreless draw in Johannesburg. Wanderers drop their interest in Elbekay Bouchiba.

MONDAY Oct 9

WANDERERS appoint ex-Blackpool midfielder Mark Taylor as their new physio following the departure of Mark Leather to Sunderland.

TUESDAY Oct 10

ON the day it emerges that Wanderers have made an approach for Sunderland's out of favour winger Nicky Summerbee, Gardner and Elliott get more match action in the Reserves' 0-0 draw at Rotherham.

WEDNESDAY Oct 11

SUMMERBEE says "No" to Wanderers, explaining that he wants to stay in the Premiership. It's the subs' bench again for Jaaskelainen as Finland hold England in Helsinki. But he would have been on after six minutes if Antii Niemi had not controversially escaped with just a yellow card for a foul on Teddy Sheringham.

THURSDAY Oct 12

FISH is back from South Africa safe and well ... problems pile up for Wolves ahead of their visit to the Reebok ... Allardyce, a big supporter of the Red Cross, meets the Queen on her visit to the Nort-west.

FRIDAY Oct 13

WOLVES boss Colin Lee gets no sympathy from Wanderers as he counts his casualties. "Join the club!" Allardyce says. "Nobody has had more problems than we have had this season."
